Social workers a kind of nice

Our interview went really well. Of course I was way more nervous than I needed to be, but that was expected. She asked lots of questions about our marriage, how we met, what attracted us to each other, etc. We talked about what we were open to as far as ethnicity and sex of the child. Overall it was really good.
We also got the update as to where we are in the process. Looks like we still have about 3 months to go. I was kind of disapointed, I thought we were almost done, only a few interviews, but she is really busy and works with a lot of families. We have to wait our turn and not rush. I get that, I just wish that it was explained a little bit better as to how this all works and the time that it takes. They are very concerned about not giving time frames so as to not give expectations to families because it is variable. But it would be helpful to know the times that are not variable, like taking 3 months to do interviews after our four months of classes.
I really am ok, just needed to vent a little bit and readjust.

That is frustrating. I'd be annoyed too if I wasn't forewarned of the time lapse.

Hopefully things pickup speed...

It absolutely floors me how little communication there is between case workers and prospective families. We are at their mercy and they know it. Drives me insane.

I just stumbled across your blog and I can totally relate. We were given very high expectations of a short wait when we started the adoption process 16m ago. We thought that our home study would be complete months before it was as well. We also thought we would have had a child by now. It's so difficult to be patient, you really are at the mercy of other people.

Sincerely hope things move along quickly and smoothly for you. I'll be back to check in and see how things are going.

Hi Melissa, I just started following your blog and wanted to say "hi"! I'm in the begining of the adoption process as well and look forward to following your journey.

Coming out of my usual lurkerdom for a couple of things.

It is frustrating, but at least you *know* they're not blowing you off. Just take it a day at a time - easy to say, hard to do. At least they're not blowing smoke and giving you unrealistic expectations. That's much worse.

Also, I just nominated you as a Kreativ Blogger! Grats!

What an emotional rollercoaster! We just received a placement a few weeks ago (FINALLY) but the stress continues because the parental rights have not been terminated yet! Although - the odds are in our favor, it doesn't make things any easier.

Wishing you the best!

Hi there :) We just started the process and in my mind I'm secretly hoping that a baby will by in my arms by Christmas; but the more I'm learning, the less likely that seems! I'm nervous and worried, but I know the miracle at the end of the journey will be totally worth it! Looking forward to following your journey!
